Interior Lighting

(Updated 10.04.2023: complete edit of the article) Lighting in the main habitat will consist of different modes: standby, activity, emergency and disinfection. This section should explain the ideal system of lighting inside the underwater habitat.

This chapter is divided into the following sections:

  • Lighting Modes: Standby, Activity, Emergency, Disinfection
  • Virtual Sky
  • CoeLux – Mimic Natural Refraction Process

Our extensive analysis and proposals are part of the design manual.

Underwater Navigation

The danger of excursion divers getting lost have always been a major concern in underwater habitats. According to their webpage the Dive Tracker consists of a sender and a tracker. From a distance of up to 4000ft (?1300m) divers can easily track the direction of the sender’s signal and return to their safe location. Costs: from 1200USD per set. (Homepage Dive Tracker).

HiCan Bed

HiCan BedI know, it’s a bit off the topic, but if we succeed one day to have a kingsize underwater habitat, I want one of these !!! Get all information on the HiCan project on hi-can.com

Torid Pulse

The H2Odyssey Torid-Pulse is a high performance underwater system designed for fun!  It shoots air rings and inspires to play paint ball… underwater. But see yourself on their website.

The Exosuit

exosuitDeveloped and built in North Vancouver by Nuytco Research Ltd, this hard metal dive suit allows divers to operate safely down to a depth of 1000 feet and yet still have exceptional dexterity and flexibility to perform delicate work. The amazing technology of the EXOSUIT atmospheric diving system (ADS) maintains a cabin pressure of the surface and still allows the suit to bend due to a unique rotary joint invented by Phil Nuytten. Augmented Reality Underwater

Augmented Reality Underwater by Hololens in Neemo 21How helpful would it be to have Augmented Reality underwater in a closed environment like an Undersea Station? NASA experimented with Augmented Reality (AR) or Mixed Reality (MR) by using Microsofts HoloLens at the Aquarius Reef Base off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, in late July/August 2015. Potential astronauts used the device for tasks like checking emergency breathing equipment. Therefore they were going through a series of steps ranging from turning valves to finding and plugging in equipment, and setting up equipment to support an undersea robot. Underwater Station: Virtual Porthole

Virtual Porthole inside the Underwater StationHere is an idea for a porthole where the structure of the underwater station does not allow to install one. For example on the ceiling, where penetrations of the shell should be strictly avoided in order to maintain the integrity of the emergency safety area in the upper part of the living area. The Virtual Porthole would consist of a camera on the exterior of the shell and a TV flat screen on same position inside the habitat. Continue reading “Underwater Station: Virtual Porthole”

What happened to the artificial gills?

© CalamarPark.comThe Triton is a sort of artificial gill that would extract oxygen from the water for you in an on-demand fashion as you swim, obviating the need for bulky SCUBA gear. Is this really possible? Find the answer on Deep Sea News.
